Two-step henna - when to do it (2/5)

Hennowanie dwuetapowe - kiedy robimy (2/5)

When do we do two-step henna

If you are just starting your adventure with henna or herbal hair coloring , you may have come across the term two-step henna. We’re already explaining what this procedure is all about and when it’s worth using.

Two-step henna treatment for a lot of grey hair

The first indication for two-step colouring is the occurrence of more grey hairs. It should be noted that the paste that we prepare from henna or a mixture of coloring herbs is quite thick and it is difficult to cover all the hair perfectly the first time. Most often, we do the coloring ourselves at home, which does not make the task easier.

Regrowth with visible grey hair

The pre-colouring procedure should also be used when silver hair appears at regrowth. In this case, you may decide to cover only the regrowth in the first stage.

How to Darken Your Hair Color with Henna

Finally, the indication for such a two-stage procedure would be a situation when we want significantly darken the color , e.g. we want to go from a dark blonde shade to deep brown.

The two-step henna coloring procedure is as follows:

Stage 1

coloring with pure henna (lawsonia) or lawsonia with the addition of amla. From the Sattva palette, the following are suitable for this purpose: Sattva Red or Sattva Henna Amla . The colouring paste should be prepared according to the instructions on the packaging, remembering to set it aside for the required time, as well as to keep it on the hair for the appropriate time.

Stage 2

Coloring with the target shade of plant dye (here you will find a wide range of possibilities), according to the instructions on the packaging.

Important aspects of two-step hennaing

Using coloring with herbal mixtures or henna, make sure to divide your hair into sections and apply the coloring paste, covering each strand thoroughly. If you can, invite someone to help you. This is a great opportunity to spend time together!

It is important to remember that plant dyes and henna cool down quickly and the time when we keep the paste on our head should be spent in a warm room. Do not go outside to avoid catching a cold.

Two-step colouring requires more time, but produces beautiful and natural results.

Sattva herbal dyes are unique because their packaging contains everything you need for coloring (protective gloves, a protective cap, a brush for applying henna).
