What color does indigo give to hair?

Indigo applied to hair alone adds dark blue tones. The resulting color is usually quite matte and may fall into gray. The best effects are achieved by combining indigo with henna - depending on the proportions used between these two dyes, beautiful shades of brown can be obtained.

The colour obtained immediately after colouring is not the final colour. Greenish reflections may be visible at first, and the dyes will continue to oxidise. The final colour of the hair after colouring will be achieved after approximately 48 hours.

It is important to remember that indigo (like henna) does not “stick” to the hair. The dyes bind with the hair’s keratin in a permanent way, and it is difficult to wash out of the hair. Then prepare a paste by mixing the appropriate amount of powder with water at about 50°C until you get a smooth consistency. Wear protective gloves to avoid staining your hands.

Divide your hair into four sections and apply the paste evenly from root to tip in each section. Wrap your head in plastic wrap and cover it with a towel to help retain heat and increase the effectiveness of the henna. Leave the dye on your hair for 2-3 hours.

After this time, rinse the henna with warm water without using shampoo. Remember that the color will develop for another 48 hours - do not shampoo your hair during this time. For best results, it is recommended to do an allergy test on a small area of ​​skin before fully applying the product.
