Shilajit (mumijo) – what it is

Shilajit is a natural, tar-like resin that forms over hundreds of years in the crevices of high-mountain rocks as plants decompose. In Ayurveda, it is counted among the rasayanas, substances used in regeneration rituals. The names “shilajit” and “mumijo” are sometimes used interchangeably, but the composition depends on the place of origin and the purification method, which is why what counts is testing the specific batch.

Who it’s for and what to watch out for

A product for adults who enjoy calm, regular rituals. Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, and do not give to children. Consult your doctor before use if you have iron overload, heart disease or another chronic condition, or if you take medication. Keep a gap of about three hours between shilajit and thyroid, blood pressure or diabetes medication. Avoid combining it with high doses of iron supplements, as shilajit itself contains iron.

Measure out half of the included scoop (250 mg), a pea-sized portion, and dissolve it in about 50 ml of lukewarm water, plant-based milk or regular milk. Stir thoroughly and drink once a day, preferably in the morning. The taste is intense, earthy and resinous, and plant-based milk softens it best.

We recommend using it for 1–3 months, followed by a break. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Give yourself a few weeks of observation before deciding whether this ritual is for you.
