The concept of beauty and care in Ayurveda

Dry, dull skin? Discover the secrets of 5,000 years of Ayurvedic tradition and rituals related to care. Add shine and ensure a radiant, healthy look without having to leave home.

The basic principle in the philosophy of Ayurveda is the pursuit of balance of mind, body and spirit. Well-being, health and beautiful appearance are not possible to achieve without maintaining harmony on these three levels. In the countries of the East, Ayurveda has been practiced for over five thousand years. Women from European countries, inspired by the beauty and health of Indian women, are increasingly reaching for products created with this philosophy in mind.

Not just from the outside - beauty in Ayurveda is a holistic concept

You have certainly had the opportunity to meet people who radiate an exceptional glow both in terms of their appearance and the positive aura they spread around them. Such an effect can be achieved precisely through harmony on the three levels indicated above - mind, body, spirit. That is why it is so important to take care of your condition from the inside as well.

Dry skin is most often noticed on its outer surface. We then feel unpleasant tension, roughness and dullness of the epidermis. It would seem that the right serum, good cream and maybe a visit to a beautician will do the trick. Unfortunately, problems at the level of the body arise not only as a result of poorly selected care. Very often, the cause is also disorders at deeper levels - even such as digestion, breathing, thought processes or toxins that accumulate in our body.

In order to take care of ourselves comprehensively, we should pay attention to our diet. It is good for it to be rich in fruits and vegetables, whole grains, healthy fats and oils, and above all water. It is also worth avoiding processed foods, which, due to their high sugar content, provide a quick energy boost, but do not provide us with any nutrients.

Every day we drink large amounts of coffee and tea, which, due to the caffeine content, flush out valuable microelements and vitamins from our bodies. Of course, we do not have to give up our favorite drinks entirely, but it is worth remembering to supplement the diet with an additional amount of water after consuming them, which moisturizes us from the inside.

Let's remember that diet alone is not everything - exercise is also important, as it has a positive effect on the digestive processes in our body. Do you know that after about 30 minutes of physical exercise, our body starts producing endorphins? So if you want to quickly give yourself a feeling of happiness and satisfaction, remember this!

Ayurvedic skin care step by step

Ayurvedic skin care is based on three steps that are supposed to ensure the beauty and health of the skin. These are: cleansing, nourishing and moisturizing. The basis of care in this trend are oils, because they contain the most valuable nutrients compared to other cosmetics, such as creams or balms, and more easily reach the deeper tissues of the skin.

When choosing oils, but also other care cosmetics, look for those that contain natural and only necessary ingredients.

Do you want to be able to reach for beneficial skin care treatments in the comfort of your home? We have a morning care plan for you using products from Sattva Ayurveda, which you can do 3-4 times a week or more often if you feel the need and see that it serves you well.

Step 1 – Cleansing

After the night, gently cleanse your face of excess dirt and bacteria, as well as sebum, which is the perfect breeding ground for them. For this purpose, reach for a gentle face wash gel. It is important that it does not contain strong cleansing ingredients, so soap will not be a good choice here.

Step 2 - massage and nutrition

The next step is a face massage with nourishing oil. At first, this treatment may seem difficult and time-consuming, but firstly - practice makes perfect, and secondly - your skin will reward you with a beautiful appearance.
Our favourite is the Lotus Flower Face and Body Oil. This product will nourish and moisturise your skin, enveloping it in the delicate scent of India's national flower. Thanks to the content of Ayurvedic oils and botanicals rich in antioxidants - with regular use - it will soothe blemishes and imperfections, as well as fine lines and discolouration.
Warm the right amount of the product in your hands and then massage gently in circular motions outwards into the cleansed skin of your face. Such a few-minute massage will perfectly nourish your skin, but will also have a positive effect on your well-being in the morning. Did you know that it can even reduce stress? Many of us feel too much of it in the morning!

If you have a little more time for morning beauty treatments, after the massage you can additionally cleanse your pores by doing a steam bath, a so-called facial steam. Thanks to the warm steam, the facial skin will soften, and the pores will open and be easier to cleanse of sebum, sebum and other impurities.

Step 3 – mask

After the oiling ritual, it's time for a mask. To have a healthy GLOW effect throughout the day, try the Morimoro powder mask. It is a composition of Ayurvedic herbs (moringa, vetiver, turmeric, fenugreek, licorice, arrowroot) and Moroccan clay. Their action supports the natural structure of collagen fibers and stimulates the elasticity of the epidermis.

Mix the powder with water (e.g. rose water), yogurt or raw milk until you reach the consistency of a paste. Apply it to your face, preferably with a brush, which will make it easier to spread the product. When the mask hardens, rinse it off with warm water. Note: the GLOW effect is visible from the first use - so it is the best option for an effective morning care.

Step 4 – Toning

After washing off the mask, use a toning mist to give your skin the right pH. Among the Sattva Ayurveda brand products, you will find a rose facial toner with damask rose and centifolia rose.

Step 5 - creams

The last step to complete our ritual is creams. First, we take care of the skin under the eyes. Here, the natural power of bearberry, cucumber and papaya extracts will work perfectly. These ingredients will brighten the eye area, eliminating dark circles and shadows. For the face, we recommend a day cream with jojoba and avocado oil, which will leave your skin moisturized all day long. It is also an ideal option for people with a disturbed skin hydrolipid barrier. It is gentle and delicate, and most importantly, natural.

On the skin prepared in this way, you can apply a cream with a protective filter and, if you like, make-up. Ayurvedic skin care is not difficult. It is good habits for the mind, body and spirit combined with natural, thoughtful and good quality SATTVA cosmetics.
