Sattva Ayurveda Aromatherapy
Jasmine Essential Oil 10 ml
Flowers picked at dawn, before the sun has a chance to evaporate their scent. That is exactly why jasmine is so expensive.
Jasmine cannot be rushed. The flowers have to be picked by hand — early in the morning, when the concentration of essential oils is at its highest, before the warmth of the day starts to evaporate them. It can take several million individual flowers to produce a single kilogram of oil. That is why authentic jasmine is one of the most expensive oils in aromatherapy — and why so many “jasmine” products on the market are synthetic imitations.
In Ayurveda it is known as Chameli or Jati — the “queen of Indian flowers” — and is mentioned in Ayurvedic texts as a herb with cooling and harmonizing properties, especially effective for excess Pitta in the head: irritability, anxiety and emotional “overheating”. It belongs to a very small group of tridoshic oils — it balances Vata, Pitta and Kapha at the same time. Traditionally used for postpartum depression, sexual problems and insomnia, and as an ingredient in the most precious Indian attars — perfumes with a sandalwood base.
A pilot study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology (2018) showed that inhaling jasmine oil reduced cortisol levels by 12% compared with placebo. The effect of the scent itself is even simpler: jasmine is one of those scents that make it hard to stay sad.
