Sattva Ayurveda Aromatherapy
Tea Tree Essential Oil 10 ml
Aboriginal Australians have used it on wounds for thousands of years. Science in the 20th century only confirmed it.
For thousands of years, Aboriginal Australians used the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia for wounds, infections and coughs — crushing the leaves and applying them to cuts or inhaling the steam from boiling leaves. Science in the 20th century only confirmed it: terpinen-4-ol, the main active compound, destroys the cell membranes of bacteria and fungi — which explains the effectiveness of a plant that Aboriginal Australians discovered intuitively thousands of years earlier. Since the 1970s, when scientific research confirmed the action of terpinen-4-ol, tea tree oil has never dropped off the list of the world's best-studied essential oils.
As an Australian plant, tea tree is not originally mentioned in the classical Ayurvedic texts, but modern Ayurvedic aromatherapy classifies it as an oil that balances Kapha and Vata — cleansing, cooling inflammation and strengthening immunity.
