Sattva Ayurveda Aromatherapy
Orange Essential Oil 10 ml
There is one oil that's hard to breathe in without smiling. It's orange.
There's no philosophy to it — it's simply biology. Limonene, which makes up over 90% of orange oil, directly stimulates the limbic system and supports the release of serotonin. Your brain responds to this scent the way it responds to warmth, sunshine and something good right under your nose — before you've even had time to name it. That's why orange has been linked with happiness and well-being for centuries: in ancient China it was a “Qi tonic” — a tonic for the life force — and European apothecaries used orange peel for depression and poor appetite.
In Ayurveda, orange balances Vata and Kapha — it warms emotionally, breaks through apathy and stagnation, and brings back lightness and joy. It is gentler than bergamot and more direct — less complex, more immediate. It is one of the few oils that are safe for the whole family, including children over 6 — which makes it one of the best choices for a diffuser in shared spaces.
Good news if you're wary of citrus on your skin: sweet orange (Citrus sinensis) is not photosensitizing — unlike bergamot or bitter orange. You can use it without restrictions.
