Sattva Ayurveda Aromatherapy
Blue Tansy Essential Oil 10 ml
Yellow flower. Blue oil. And that's no accident.
Blue tansy grows in Morocco as a small yellow wildflower — but during steam distillation something remarkable happens. Under the influence of heat and steam, the plant compounds transform chemically and release chamazulene — a deep blue compound that gives the oil its distinctive, intense color. It's pure chemistry, a little like alchemy: a yellow plant yields a blue oil. And it is chamazulene that is behind what blue tansy does best — strong anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and soothing properties, for both the skin and the nervous system.
Blue tansy belongs to the Asteraceae family — the same as chamomile — and shares many of its properties, but its effect is stronger and more striking. In Ayurveda and Western aromatherapy, it is classified as a cooling and harmonizing oil, particularly effective for excess Pitta — inflammation, irritation, emotional tension and internal “overheating” are exactly where blue tansy shows its full potential. Traditional Chinese Medicine describes its action as “calming the heart and quieting the Shen” — in other words, what we now call the nervous system and emotions.
A practical note: this is one of the most expensive oils in the line — and one of the rarest. It is grown only in Morocco and the Mediterranean basin, and it is often adulterated. It pays to know what you're buying.
