Opium is one of the classics of Indian oil perfumery — a name that has long stood for a dense, oriental accord rather than a scent associated with a plant. Compositions of this kind can be overwhelming, though: heavy from the very first second, tiring after a few hours of wear.

This oil builds its oriental depth on a base of jojoba oil and olive oil — together 85% of the formula — instead of alcohol. As a result, the scent unfolds slowly, close to the skin, rather than evaporating in a cloud within the first few minutes. The fragrance composition also includes green tea seed oil (Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil) — a real, named ingredient, not just a guess — which adds a fresh, green counterpoint to the classic oriental accord.
